Specialty Practices Week
May 3 – 7, 2010
Start with two days of legal writing, followed by the latest in cutting-edge law from MSPB and EEOC presented by the FELTG team and guest speakers from MSPB and EEOC. Thursday offers an in-depth examination of whistleblowing and retaliation claims, with the week culminating in a new, special session for EEO professionals on drafting Final Agency Decisions.

- Monday, May 3 — Ernest Hadley, William Wiley, and Peter Broida. Legal Writing I — The Basics: Legal writing as compared to other writing, IRAC technique, writing from the readers’ perspective, organizational logic, citation formats, legal precedent and research.
- Tuesday, May 4 — Ernest Hadley and William Wiley. Legal Writing II — Writing for the Forum: Drafting reprimands, performance standards, proposed terminations, abeyance agreements, last rites agreements, and petitions for review for the MSPB, EEOC summary judgment motions, supporting and opposing briefs.
- Wednesday, May 5 — Peter Broida, Gary Gilbert, Ernest Hadley, William Wiley and invited Merit System Protection Board and Equal Employment Opportunity Commission Guests: MSPB and EEOC Case Law Updates with the Experts: keynote speaker is Susan Tsui Grundmann, Chairman, MSPB.
- Thursday, May 6 — Peter Broida, Gary Gilbert and William Wiley. Whistleblowing & Retaliation: This session will provide an in-depth review of the Whistleblower Protection Act, including protected disclosures, recipients of protected disclosures, and the relationship between protected disclosures and required job duties, as well as other types of prohibited personnel practices involving reprisal. The afternoon session will focus on retaliation under Title VII and the other anti-discrimination statutes, including a review of the Supreme Court’s Burlington Northern decision and what constitutes adverse treatment for purposes of an EEO reprisal claim. Also covered will be reprisal for union activity.

Special Note
If making an individual CLE application to your state bar or commission a CLE sample from the seminar in PDF file will include speaker biographies, table of contents and timed agendas, and a representative sample of instructional handouts will be posted with your filing after the training is held. Each day begins at 8:30am and ends at 4:00pm with an hour for lunch. Continental breakfast is served at 8:00am.

FELTG reserves the right to cancel a session, or make changes, upon notice.

Substitutions may be made at any time with notice to FELTG, but are limited to one substitute filling in the original registrants' seminar dates. Untimely cancellations are eligible for credit slips for a future registration, provided notice is given before the start of training, but will not be granted for partial attendance. Credit slips will not be granted for no-shows.
Confirmation is by email only. If you do not receive confirmation within seven days, please call FELTG directly at 508.349.3777. On-line Registrations submitted without valid credit card number and expiration dates, or other incomplete information, are VOID. You may not be admitted to the seminar without your confirmation from FELTG.
Capacity is Limited — walk-ins may not be permitted. Cancellations made timely, before given close of business dates, do not incur credit card charges. Attendees may cancel up to 30 days prior to the beginning of the first date of the seminar week without charge, and may substitute another attendee at any time. The seminar fee includes daily refreshments and all handout materials. Lunch is one hour.
